Château Veyry 2004 epitomises Bordeaux's return to a more classic style vintage.
The 2004 vintage was initially undervalued by the press, but we have always been impressed by it – and Veyry’s gentle handling of the fruit ensured that the wine’s potential was maximised.
Château Veyry comprises just 4 hectares of south-facing vines – a direct continuation of the limestone ridge upon which the great Saint-Émilions are based – and Veyry is certainly in the same rich Bordeaux vein. Christian Veyry crafts modern style Bordeaux that have wowed the world’s wine critics, and offer great value-for-money too. Reviews.."Sweet dark berry and mineral flavors are firmed by sound acidity. Finishes with solid tannic spine and very good length. A very good showing for this Cotes de Castillon wine..." Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar (May/June 2005)
"...appealing seam of exotic pepper and spice, with charcoal, roast coffee beans and plum on the nose. There is good substance on the palate too, backed up by good tannins, plenty of dark, charcoaly fruits and more." thewinedoctor.com (25th March 2008)
"A touch of Cabernet Franc joins Merlot in this wine from top Castillon producer Veyry, which like the 2002 has a plummy, fleshy density. There's a little more sweetness and vibrant edge to the fruit, a little hint of kirsch, with big, solid tannins and that coffee-like oak underpinning." thewinegang.com |
