Château Trotanoy, 1975

A.O.C. Pomerol, Bordeaux, France

Château Trotanoy 1975 is one of the finest Trotanoys of all time.

1975 was a vintage that produced a handful of truly great wines and a large number of failures. Many Bordeaux reds have evolved incredibly slowly and are just about ready to drink now, but many are excessively tannic which in some cases has prevented graceful ageing.

Trotanoy is one of the great right bank estates from the Moueix family stable that includes Pétrus. The wines can be every bit as dense, structured and profound as Pétrus, with distinct freshness and minerality that goes beyond the realms of most Merlot, from grapes grown on one of the earliest ripening sites in Pomerol.

Reviews..

"This is a glorious Trotanoy...Fabulous definition with unbelievable freshness and vitality." eRobertParker.com

"This has always been a wonderful Trotanoy. A deep garnet core with mature tawny rim. A wonderful, beautifully defined nose with cherry tomatoes, raspberries, minerals and a touch of mint. Heavenly. A medium-bodied palate that has wonderful balance, still impressive depth of fruit with cherries, molasses, wet sand and an irony feel. Suave, silky smooth, sophisticated, supremely well focused. This just a sense of natural balance and poise from start to finish. A point." eRobertParker.com
