Château Roc de Cambes is the finest château in Bourg under the perfectionist Francois Mitjavile (proprietor of Le Tertre-Rôteboeuf).
Roc de Cambes comprises 10 hectares of old vines on a south-facing slope in a natural amphitheatre facing the Gironde. Here, Mitjavile picks his grapes as late as possible to maximise ripeness and concentration, and the resulting wines are rich, stylish and full-bodied.
The 2005 vintage was a great year in Bordeaux, and satellite appellations like Bourg represent a good opportunity to taste this vintage early on, and without breaking the bank. Reviews.."I have been a big believer in this Cote de Bourg made by the obsessive/compulsive Francois Mitjavile, who is better known for his outstanding small St.-Emilion estate, Le Tertre-Roteboeuf." eRobertParker.com
“This is without question the best vintage I have ever tasted from this property. It was a wine, which had amazingly aromatic fruit, fat but silky tannins, beautiful balance and which tasted just glorious. What a joy! Pure delicacy to enjoy in the next 15 years.” Izak Litwar, greatbordeauxwines.com |
