For a 1999 the Château Pontet-Canet portended things to come...

Some may be surprised at the release price and meteoric rise of the Pontet-Canet 2009. Not necessarily so for us, as for years now we have been saying that Pontet-Canet was surely headed for super second status given the quality of wines produced by Monsieur Tesseron and his team, most notably Jean-Michel Comme.

This was always considered one of the true values left on the left bank - sadly no more, but a maturing vintage such as this lovely 1999 will give you some idea of what all the fuss is all about.
