Château Palmer, 1989

A.O.C. Margaux, Bordeaux 3ème Grand Cru Classé, France

Château Palmer’s 1989 vintage comes from one of the largest Bordeaux crops in history that produced a wealth of rich, concentrated wines.

Palmer’s wines are highly sought after around the world – an intensely seductive Margaux style – and the 1989 vintage represents a very shrewd buy for Margaux aficionados, with Robert Parker lauding it as: "one of the all-time great Palmers". While it is drinking well now it will develop further in the bottle for many years to come.

Palmer is a quintessentially beautiful château sited on the outskirts of the village of Margaux, and was established by Englishman, Major-general Charles Palmer, who arrived in Bordeaux after the Napoleonic wars, and is now under the control of Franck Mähler-Besse, the son of a Dutch immigrant.

Reviews..

“One of the all-time great Palmer’s, this wine seems to go from strength to strength. A deep garnet hue, deeper in colour than the Palmer 1990. A lovely nose of blackberry, cloves, tobacco and cedar mixed with a little freshly tilled earth. The palate is medium-bodied yet powerful, well-knit and harmonious. Blackberry and cedar, smoke with a touch of leather. Just a little dryness on the finish, though that simply leaves the palate fresh and begging for more. Superb length…” eRobertParker.com (May 2007)
