The 1976 Mouton label was designed by Pierre Soulages who incorporated the initial letters of Mouton Rothschild in the label. Mouton Rothschild has been under the Barons de Rothschild ownership for over 100 years, and it was the unremitting efforts of the flamboyant Baron Philippe de Rothschild that resulted in Mouton's historical upgrade to premier Grand cru status in 1973 – the only change ever made to the Bordeaux classification of 1855. Reviews.."Medium to dark ruby with some browning at the edges, this wine is approaching maturity and exhibits an interesting, moderately intense bouquet of ripe plums, spicy oak, and leather…for the vintage it is a respectable Mouton for drinking over the next decade." Robert Parker, Bordeaux "… for those born in this year." eRobertParker.com |
