Château Leoville Las Cases 2000 was rated 100 points by the Wine Spectator in what was a great Bordeaux vintage. Léoville Las Cases is the most legendary wine of Saint-Julien: on a quality par with the Médoc's first growths, without the hefty price premium to match, it is the prime example of a Bordeaux 'super-second'. At Leoville Las Cases the grapes are fermented at lower than average temperatures, which is partially responsible for the wines displaying some of the most exotic aromas and aromatic richness in the Médoc. Reviews.."Absolutely fantastic. This is one of the most exciting young reds I have tasted in a long, long time. It shows intense aromas of berries, currants and minerals, with hints of mint. Full-bodied and packed with fruit and tannins, its long finish is refined and silky. A benchmark for the vintage. Las Cases has always wanted to make first-growth quality in a top notch vintage, and it certainly did in 2000." Wine Spectator "Dark, solid colour; exotic, spicy, sweet fruit and sweet oak nose; powerful and rich, youthful and firm, with warm, spicy notes and a mid-palate silkiness that belies the youthful tannins and fresh acidity. Drink from 2015 to 2030 and beyond." thewinegang.com |
