Château Léoville Barton's 2004 is a reflection of the Bordeaux vintage – a return to more traditional Bordeaux style – of elegance and finesse.
Château Léoville Barton is owned and run by the congenial Anthony Barton and his daughter Lilian, who have succeeded in maintaining its reputation for producing traditional top-flight Bordeaux wines with great ageing potential, yet relatively small Saint-Julien price tags.
There are few Bordeaux châteaux today that consistently receive such favourable press from journalists and consumers alike, yet remain such good value-for-money. Thanks to the Barton’s noble aim to produce classic Saint-Julien wines that many consumers can afford, Léoville Barton is one such château. Reviews..“Deep aromas of black raspberry, black cherry, leather, smoke and flowers. Dense but juicy, with lovely finesse and flavor intensity. Notes of mocha, chocolate and leather linger nicely on the lively finish, which features substantial but rather fine tannins. This is excellent.” Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar (May/June 2007)
“The outstanding 2004 comes close to equaling the spectacular 2000.” eRobertParker.com (June 2007) |

This was always considered one of the true values left on the left bank - sadly no more, but a maturing vintage such as this lovely 1999 will give you an idea of what all the fuss is about.
