Château Léoville Barton, 1998

A.O.C. Saint-Julien, Bordeaux 2ème Grand Cru Classé, France

Château Léoville Barton 1998 is a star of something of a forgotten Bordeaux vintage.

Château Léoville Barton is owned and run by the congenial Anthony Barton and his daughter Lilian, who have succeeded in maintaining its reputation for producing traditional top-flight Bordeaux wines with great ageing potential, yet relatively small Saint-Julien price tags.

Reviews..

"This opaque purple-colored, muscular, full-bodied, classically made St.-Julien displays impressive concentration, chewy, highly-extracted flavors of black fruits, iron, earth, and spicy wood, and a powerful mouth-feel. A pure, uncompromising, traditionally-styled wine, it is to be admired for its authenticity, class, and quality…a chateau that has produced nothing less than top-flight wines for more than a decade." eRobertParker.com

“Very minty, with blackberry and dark currant on the nose. Spicy too. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a spicy, floral and currant aftertaste. Solid and very pretty.” Wine Spectator
