1966 is one of Michael Broadbent's favourite Bordeaux vintages, who called it a 'long-distance runner'. It is also the most popular vintage between 1961 and 1982, 1970, producing wines full of charm and complexity, and the vintage was one of the first to combine a large harvest with high quality fruit. Reviews.."The Latour ’66 remains one of the great wines of the vintage. This bottle has a lovely, fresh bouquet that continues to scream “Pauillac” at the top of its voice. Pencil lead, cedar, dark berried fruits, a touch of tar with exceptional definition and focus. The palate is very well balanced with stern, rigid tannins, very foursquare but excellent depth and penetration. There is a saline tang lingering on the grippy, stout, conservative but citrus fresh finish. Excellent and upstanding." eRobertParker.com "Medium red color with an amber hue. Shows plum, iodine, tobacco and mint aromas. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and plenty of sweet plum, it goes on and on at the finish." Wine Spectator |
