Langoa Barton produced a classically elegant, medium-bodied 2008, which is building beautifully in the bottle.
Langoa is the stablemate of Léoville Barton and always the subject of comparison, even though they are definitely two different estates. Langoa invariably shows perhaps a more feminine and accessible side with Léoville being more muscular. But what they do share is great consistency year after year – a wine drinker's favourite. Reviews..“Another winning 2008 St.-Julien, with the appellation’s telltale beam of black currant, fig and anise wrapped with charcoal and espresso notes. There’s serious grip. Needs some time.” Wine Spectator
“Candied violet, chocolate-covered dried blueberry and plum on the nose. Lovely balance to the fresh blackberry and blueberry flavors, with lively acidity extending the finish. There’s sneaky concentration to this very well-made, graceful midweight, which should develop nicely and resolve some of its still-chalky tannins. An excellent vintage for Langoa.” Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar
“The Langoa 08 has a fine, understated, well-defined bouquet with blackberry, cedar, wild hedgerow and a touch of pencil lead, building nicely in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with thick tannins married with great fruit intensity.” eRobertParker.com |
