Château La Mission Haut-Brion, 2000

A.O.C. Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux, France

Château La Mission Haut-Brion 2000 is a stunning wine from a great Bordeaux vintage - an opulent blockbuster fully justifying its 100-point Parker rating.

The Graves' premiere appellation of Pessac-Léognan was one of the stars of the Millennium vintage, where harvesting took place in perfect conditions. The best wines were richly textured, concentrated, fat and well structured with lusciously sweet fruit. La Mission 2000 is luxuriously rich, intense and powerful. It is drinking beautifully well now, but promises so much more with bottle age.

Reviews..

"A superstar of this great vintage...extravagantly sweet aromas of blackberries, blueberries, toast, scorched earth, coffee, asphalt, graphite, and smoke. Super-intense and unctuously-textured, with a sumptuous mid-palate and finish, this is an explosively rich, layered effort that possesses everything I could ever want from a terroir that has given me as much hedonistic and intellectual pleasure as any other wine in the world." eRobertParker.com

"Lovely aromas of dried lavender, crushed berries and minerals. Full-bodied, with firm, yet polished tannins and a medium finish of tobacco, berry and dark chocolate. A balanced and very pretty young red...clearly outstanding." Wine Spectator

"Full-blown aromas of dark berries, smoked meat, tobacco and iron. Lush, thick and ripe; really builds steadily in the mouth and explodes on the back end. Quintessential La Mission notes of tobacco, minerals, tar and hot stones. Today the 2001 seems even more sharply etched but this is denser, riper and deeper, with perfectly integrated acidity. Finishes very long, with huge, palate-coating tannins." Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar
