Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste 1959 comes from a great Bordeaux vintage and at the time declared as the vintage of the century no less.
1959 was a '5 star' Michael Broadebent vintage. 1959 produced amongst the richest and most powerful wines ever made in Bordeaux. Nowadays the 1959s are often in better condition than their 1961 counterparts which experience even higher demand. They have evolved at a slower rate and often display deeper colour and more richness than their younger siblings. Reviews.."As delectable as before. A sublime nose: cedar, cherry nose with a touch of cooked meat, but brilliant definition. Beautifully balanced on the palate, medium-bodied, wild strawberry, cherry and a touch of cedar. Utterly harmonious. A graceful, introverted, understated claret." eRobertParker.com
"A superb classic cedary nose opening up sweetly, well clad with good fruit." Michael Broadbent MW
