Château Génot-Boulanger, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatieres, 2007

A.O.C. Puligny-Montrachet , Burgundy, France

Génot-Boulanger’s vineyard holdings of seven premier cru sites include some of the Les Folatieres plot.

Puligny-Montrachet is one of the most famous and finest white wine communes and appellations in Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune district and this classic Puligny is made from old vines (averaging 45 years old) that contribute to the great depth and complexity of this world-renowned style.

Tasting Notes..

Fine floral zesty and mineral notes on the nose - leading to a rich, buttery palate with delightful pattiserie notes and white stone fruits. A lovely tight, taut core of concentrated fruit with a zesty finish. Excellent.

Reviews..

"...showcasing a light coating of honey and pepper over a layer of cashew nuts, along with a bright, lifted character reminiscent of lemon zest. There follows a lot of texture on the palate, although it is more restrained than the preceding wine, more grippy and better defined, with a fine, tingling backbone of acidity. Firmly composed, much tighter and demanding cellar-time, this is a wine full of promise. Long, too. Put it away in the cellar.'' Winedoctor.com (Aug 2010)

"It's a vintage that defines the Chardonnay grape, its exact positioning in Burgundy and its superiority over every other Chardonnay made in the world." Matthew Jukes

Château Cos d'Estournel’s 2006 comes from a good, yet irregular Bordeaux vintage, and a year in which Estournel really shone.
