Château Ferrière, 2009

A.O.C. Margaux, Bordeaux 3ème Grand Cru Classé, France

Château Ferrière 2009 boasts the style and class of Margaux, without having to raid the piggy bank – a boutique operation of just 8 hectares – and the Médoc’s smallest Grand Cru Classé.

Ferrière’s ambitious owner, Claire Villars, has taken what was one of the Médoc’s greatest disappointments to dizzying heights of quality and value-for-money in just two decades. Benefiting from a great terroir, Ferrière produces elegant, silky wines of real finesse.

Reviews..

“Big, ripe and juicy, spiced and fleshy. There is certainly concentration here, but also considerable spicy juiciness. A solid effort, with attractive, balanced black currant fruits and ripe acidity. The wine layers fruit and integrated tannins. It feels chunky and dense, finishing dry.” Wine Enthusiast

“Sexy aromas of dark plum and cassis complicated by vanilla and minerals. Fresh and pure in the mouth, with a lively, delicately spicy blackberry flavor dominating. Finishes with very good length.” Ian D'Agata

“Smoky and silky, with enticing black tea, mulled spice and fleshy plum and black currant fruit that melds nicely together through the tobacco-filled finish." Wine Spectator
