Château Duhart-Milon Rothschild 1982 comes from one of the greatest Bordeaux vintages of the 20th century – a stunning Bordeaux buy. Duhart-Milon, which is renowned for its elegant Bordeaux style, is owned by Domaines Barons de Rothschild, and is one of the few properties in the 1855 classification to lack a château; and the wine is actually finished off in in a large warehouse. But despite this lack of grandeur, the quality of the produce, as with many estates under the distinguished Rothschild stable, is very high; then again with neighbours like Lafite Rothschild and Mouton Rothschild in this northern part of Pauillac - this is the least we should expect from such high quality soils. Duhart-Milon's wines lean towards the rather elegant, restrained style with great balance and real finesse. Reviews.."This blockbuster was a sleeper of the vintage long before the Rothschilds invested so heavily in modernizing this estate as well as began making a stricter selection. Close to full maturity, the 1982 Duhart Milon exhibits classic notes of creme de cassis, cedar, and flowers, medium to full body, a high level of glycerin, and a lusciousness and fleshiness that are very much in keeping with the vintage." eRobertParker.com "Pretty. Brilliant ruby color, with a garnet hue. Medium- to full-bodied, with silky tannins, loads of ripe berry and floral aromas and a medium sweet fruit aftertaste." Wine Spectator |
