Château Calon-Ségur 2000 vintage is a great opportunity to taste a more subtle style of Saint-Estèphe from the great 2000 Bordeaux vintage.

Calon-Ségur's present day motto emanates from the latter half of the century, when the Marquis Nicolas de Ségur, the 'Prince of Vines', who already owned Lafite and Latour, took control of Calon (as it was) and declared: "I make wine at Lafite and Latour, but my heart belongs to Calon." To this day, a heart remains on the label.

More recently, Calon-Ségur has been under the iron grip of Madame Capbern-Gasqueton, a great legend of Calon-Segur and Saint-Estèphe, who passed away in 2012. Madame Capbern-Gasqueton was one of Bordeaux’s most well-respected vignerons who, upon the death of her husband in 1985, had been forcibly at the helm. Her unwavering confidence in the terroir of Saint-Estèphe and Calon Segur made the Château one of Bordeaux’s most loved classed growths.
