Château Branaire-Ducru 1989 comes from an excellent Bordeaux vintage on the left bank. 1989 is one of Bordeaux's largest declared crops, and was initially hyped up to be the vintage of the century by almost everyone except the Bordeaux proprietors themselves. Very high tannins and extremely low levels of acidity suggested early drinkability, and Branaire-Ducru 1989 is drinking well right now. Branaire-Ducru's low-yielding 35-year-old vines, married with traditional vinification with a modern twist produces wines of power, elegance and subtlety. Reviews.."Harmonious, balanced and very fresh '89. Color is medium-dark ruby, with lovely fresh floral and raspberry aromas. Medium- to full-bodied, well-integrated tannins and a fruity, minty aftertaste." Wine Spectator “It has always been an impressively crafted, elegant, seamless wine with cassis fruit nicely dosed by high quality oak. The wine is currently revealing more expansiveness, fuller body, and plenty of lusty richness, a sure-fire formula for producing a crowd pleaser. There are no hard edges to this opulently-textured, rich, ripe, complex, savory style of wine…It has an attractive, mellow quality that is very appealing, which makes the 1989 perfect to unleash now.” eRobertParker.com |
