Château Beychevelle, 2006

A.O.C. Saint-Julien, Bordeaux 4ème Grand Cru Classé, France

Château Beychevelle 2006 is a fleshy, forward drinking Beychevelle style, accessible at a much younger age than many Beychevelle vintages.

Beychevelle (which began life as Château de Médoc in the 15th century) is a sight for sore eyes – a wonderfully elegant Bordeaux château built in the style of Louis XV, set amongst beautifully manicured gardens dating back three centuries. It commands an impressive 250 hectares (90 of which are planted with vines).

Beychevelle has passed through many owners in its history, the present being GMF and the Japanese group Suntory, who have taken Beychevelle to new levels of quality.

Reviews..

"...attractive earthy, floral, red currant, and raspberry notes are impressively intense and complex in the aromatics. This dark ruby/purple-tinged wine displays elegance, finesse, and a beautiful mouthfeel in a restrained, moderately intense, but still classic style with sweet tannins. Tobacco, cedar, earth, and red and black fruits are prominent in both the aromas and the flavors. This wine can be drunk now or cellared for 15-20 years." eRobertParker.com

"A stylish Beychevelle with subtle sweetness and good balance. Finishes with rather suave tannins and good length." Stephen Tanzer

"...there's a purity of fruit and line and length that bodes well for the long term." James Lawther MW, The Finest Wines of Bordeaux
