Le Chambertin Grand Cru Rouge 2006 is one of the truly great wines of Burgundy.

The story goes that around the year 630 AD a peasant called Bertin planted his plot of land with the same vines that the neighbouring monks had used on their adjoining plot. The resulting wine was so exquisite that news quickly spread, and the field became known as Campus Bertin which evolved into the Champ de Bertin, and finally Chambertin.

Bourée still uses old wooden vats rather than stainless steel and the grapes are trodden by foot. And last but not least, Bourée only release their wines when they are ready to drink - a very refreshing practice in today’s market.

Very great aromatic depth and complexity, with closed musky red fruits, oriental spice and violets. Wonderful palate, concentrated but fine and elegant, with aromatic tannins, very long development and complex finish; fine minerality beneath throughout; very long.
