This sublime 2007 is the first vintage of this Echezeaux Grand Cru made by the hugely talented Anne Gros.
These 'family' vines from a small lieu-dit (Les Loachausesare) are leased from Gros Freres et Soeur and made in very small quantities. The Gros family has been making wine in Vosne-Romaneé for over 150 years, and the estate was split into four parts in 1963 (under the Napoleonic Laws of Succession).
"This first vinification shows a delicate structure with marvellous silky tannins, velvet fruit with a touch of spices...the wines are very pretty, delicate and pure. I would call 2007 a vintage of pleasure." Anne Gros Reviews.."I believe that Mme Gros' description of her wines as "pretty and delicate" captures them exactly..... high-toned red berry fruit nose features layers of spice and earth that are picked up by the light to barely medium-bodied flavors that are round, supple and very forward, in fact so forward that this could easily be drunk now though I personally would suggest allowing it 1 to 3 years in bottle first. This is certainly attractive." Burghound |
